A Love Supreme

I am new to Jazz, having read about its history and forms online in the past few weeks. Many names kept coming up, one of them John Coltrane. It appears Coltrane's memory is very alive and his timeless work continues to inspire musicians across the world. So I ordered a copy of "A Love Supreme".

Listening to it, I could easily recognize the mastery of the instruments, having some really amazing instrumentals, including, of course, John Coltrane's masterful saxophone playing. It definitely does not sound dance music or swing, and although it seems freely improvised, it never sounded dissonant to my ears. I found myself enjoying it.

The mood of the piece changes, and about halfway through the album I noticed a change in the space, the mood I was in. The best way to describe the effect might be uplifting, inspirationally uplifting. I know I will listen to other forms and expressions of Jazz, but this one will be hard to top. A great way to start, and a must have for all seriously interested in Jazz.
