Just a Wee Bit About Drummers

backstage humor
Recording Engineer Oz Fritz tells the true story about a band he records on tour. Twice a year they travel to Japan. As in most bands, the drummer was always impossible to locate, especially at critical times.

To make certain they could locate him, the band elected to buy him a cell phone.

The day before the band was scheduled to fly out of Los Angeles to Japan, Oz decided to check out the cell phone; he wasn't at all sure the drummer actually carried it with him.

He called the drummer's cell number and, sure enough, the drummer answered.

"How's the cell phone workin' out?" asked Oz.

"Fine, man, I can hear you real good," the drummer replied.

"Great, man, great," Oz said. "Your bags are all packed?"

"Yeah, man, I just got one, a carry-on," the drummer said.

"Cool," Oz responded.

"Just one question I got," the drummer added.

"What's that?" Oz asked.

"How did you know I was at K-Mart???"
