Leeds International Jazz Conference 2006

The conference will feature papers that demonstrate the diversity of jazz studies, from music pedagogy to cultural studies, and the keynote speaker for the event will be Professor Simon Frith (University of Edinburgh).

Simon Frith is a critically acclaimed writer on popular music. His publications include The Sociology of Rock, Sound Effects, Music for Pleasure, Art into Pop, and Performing Rites: Evaluating Popular Music. Professor Frith has also edited a number of texts including Facing the Music, World Music: Politics and Social Change, Music and Copyright, On Record: Rock, Pop and the Written Word, and, most recently, The Cambridge Companion to Rock and Pop.
