Jazz Clubs Worldwide

For me one of the really great things about travel is the opportunity to
seek out some jazz clubs. Sometimes to listen, sometimes a chance to sit-in with the band playing on that particular night. I think there is no anticipation like wandering into some previously unvisited jazz club. The quality of the music can and does vary, but if you are a stranger in town, it still is far preferable to sitting around the bar in the hotel watching 'the box'. I have scores of memories.
Thad Jones in Zürich. Lou Donaldson and Buddy Defranco, in Hamburg. Johnny Griffin in Paris. Peter King in London. A whole host of a places and musicians known and unknown, very many with a level of talent and originality that belies their relative obscurity.
