The Festival was born as the Ann Arbor Blues Festival in 1969 and evolved into the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival in 1972, one of the first events of its kind in the United States.
It remains one of the region's premier showcases for authentic blues and jazz in its many roots and variations. In 2000, the Festival was nominated a "Local Legacy" and today it is forever preserved as part of our American heritage in the hallowed halls of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. The Festival strives to provide the community with a unique and spirited program of music that is truly American and worthy of its legendary status.
