Festivals DC was organized in 2004 to create, develop, implement and support cultural and educational programs in Washington, DC, presenting concerts, festivals, symposia, workshops, master classes, lecture/demonstrations, and other programs related to Jazz, Blues, Latin and World music.
Festivals DC is inaugurating the First Annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in Washington, DC September 28 - October 2, 2005. Programs are designed to reach out to the broadest possible demographic in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, including senior citizens, schools, universities, libraries, and the Latino and African American communities. The festival is a 5-day event culminating with performances on The National Mall.
