Jazz Performers

Jazz Musicians
Even though many of these musicians are fine singers, they have chosen to define themselves as primarily a musician. So on these listings you should expect to find musicians who may or may not also sing.

Jazz Singers
Even though many of these singers are also accomplished musicians, they have chosen to define themselves primarily as a singer. So on these listings you should expect to find singers who may or may not also play instruments.

Movement/Dancers
Dance and movement expressive of the spirit of jazz has evolved in many directions -- few of which are labeled as jazz dance. It would be a shame to define jazz dance and movement by the limited marketing concepts of weekend dance factories from the 1960s. So we don't.

Jazz Poets
Some folks like to define jazz poetry as poetry that "demonstrates jazz-like rhythm or the feel of improvisation." This limits the definition to form. Since the form of jazz and the form of jazz poetry is constantly evolving (or at least we should hope it is) it would be better to define jazz poetry as poetry that "aligns itself with the intention or spirit of jazz."
